Leahlani: The Hawaiian Brand You Need In Your Beauty Cupboard
Ah, good old June. A time for long lazy evenings in the garden, chilled glasses of crispy white wine and that oh-so-elusive British sunshine. And it just so happens that my latest beauty discovery from recent travels is just in time for 'Sun's Out, Legs Out' season.
On a recent springtime beauty expedition in New York City I discovered Leahlani Skincare, an incredible artisanal and natural beauty brand from Hawaii that I haven't gone a day without using since.
This fantastic organic beauty brand was founded by Leah, an aesthetician and skincare guru who's passion for skincare began with her own personal struggle with cystic acne. After years of honing her craft at premium hotels and spas, she ventured out to design her own line of beauty products to ritualise women's daily skincare routines in order to make them both more indulgent and more fun. Fast forward a few years later and she now has a booming natural beauty business that's well-stocked in both bricks and mortars and online shops around the globe.
I discovered Leahlani in CAP Beauty, a brilliant beauty shop in the heart of New York's West Village. You know, the neighbourhood that's home to Carrie Bradshaw and the entire cast of Friends. It has a phenomenal collection of artisanal beauty brands you've probably never heard of alongside a strong stash of beauty-from-within goodies. But, as usual, I digress.
So, I dropped into CAP Beauty mostly because I'd heard great things, but also because I was on the hunt for a nice organic body oil that would be easy (and small) enough to throw in my backpack for my next stint of travel adventures. Leahlani's clean, well-designed bottle immediately caught my eye. But the real magic's inside, because the brand blends fresh Hawaiian nectars, botanical actives and tropical oils to create the most delectable of skin treats. And let me tell you, not only are Leahlani's products utterly luxurious, they smell divine. It's like summer in a bottle. Every single time you apply.
I am now a devout user of Mahana Coco Fusion, an intoxicating body oil that transports me right to Hawaii's black-sand beaches with just one swipe on the skin. But of course it's the product's long-lasting effects that deserve real recognition. This soft, sensual oil melts right in, instantly moisturising my dry, sun- and salt-bleached skin without leaving that annoying slick that can sometimes put me off using body oils.
